Well, we are right in the middle of wedding season and I couldn’t be more happy. Now is the time to see all of the planning and hard work pay off and come to fruition. After planning with my brides for typically a year (sometimes 2!) it is the best feeling to finally create her dream flowers for the biggest day of her life.
For those engaged and looking for some guidance as to when to start talking with a florist, here are some helpful tips. 3-6 months before your big day is a great time to start contacting the florist and setting up a complimentary consultation. I do have some girls coming in a year to even 2 years out. Although this is not necessary, it is perfectly fine and it guarantees the florist will be availble for your date. When preparing for your consultation, bringing pictures and any ideas you have so far is helpful. You definitely need to have your color scheme and bridesmaids dress color picked out before seeing the florist. If you do have those picked out but still have no idea for flowers, that’s ok! A seasoned florist will be able to understand your theme and style of the wedding and be able to show you flowers and ideas to coordinate.
From there the florist puts together a quote after talking about your wants and needs and most important your budget. Once approved, you will be provided with a final quote and contract to sign as well as a deposit to be put down. This usually secures your date. Once all that has happened you can relax and enjoy the rest of your planning! Changes and new ideas will come up which is perfectly fine. Final payment is typically due 2 weeks before the wedding. When the big day arrives your florist will have the timeline and be in contact with all the vendors to coordinate a flawless set up and delivery.
Hope this has helped!
